Minister for Trade, Employment and Business, Pat Breen TD opens event for entrepreneurs in the Dublin region
Over 200 companies from across the greater Dublin region will meet this morning in the Aviva Stadium for Enterprise Ireland’s Brexit Advisory Clinic, the latest in a series of nationwide roadshow clinics advising Irish companies on supports available through Enterprise Ireland to help them act to address their exposure to Brexit.
The event, which will be opened by Minister of State for Trade, Employment and Business Pat Breen T.D, comes as the pace of negotiations on Brexit begins to accelerate.
Today’s Brexit Advisory Clinic will cover a number of topics including details of the numerous Enterprise Ireland and Local Enterprise Office supports available to help businesses navigate through and beyond Brexit. Companies will be briefed on the broad implications of Brexit, specifically around customs, intellectual property and data, employment law and personnel. An economic market outlook for the UK and Eurozone will also be shared with the attendees.
One-to-one meetings will also take place with independent experts to allow companies to identify how they can improve their capabilities and Brexit response in five key areas: Financial & Currency Management; Strategic Sourcing; Customs, Transport & Logistics, People and Intellectual Property.
Speaking ahead of the event, Minister of State for Trade, Employment and Business,EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection Pat Breen TD said: “While the UK remains an important trading partner, Brexit and the uncertainty around its impacts on business is a concern and an area of focus. Today’s Enterprise Ireland clinic is a tangible example of the wide range of work we are already doing to support companies to deal with Brexit. The hundreds of businesses in attendance can learn about the various practical supports and advice that are available to them. Through Enterprise Ireland, the Government of Ireland continues to work with companies making them more competitive, diversifying market exposure, and up-skilling teams with a view to facing the challenge of Brexit.”
Enterprise Ireland Brexit Unit Manager Jonathan McMillan said: “While the outcome of the Brexit negotiations remains uncertain, Enterprise Ireland is actively supporting Irish companies to respond to the challenges and opportunities posed by Brexit and to take the necessary steps to ensure they are more innovative, competitive and market diversified to steer through the challenges ahead. This series of Advisory Clinics is part of a wider Prepare for Brexit strategy which also includes an SME scorecard, funding for companies and Brexit Response Plans tailored to companies’ specific needs.”
